After it was announced in the Spring of 2013 that the legendary Men’s Wrestling program was going to be eliminated from Boston University Athletics at the end of the 2013-2014 season following a new $3 million sponsorship by New Balance for the addition of a Men’s Lacrosse team, the Save BU Wrestling Campaign was launched by a group of BU Wrestling Alumni,
current BU Wrestling team members and other supporters to fight to reverse the decision made by BU Athletics in order to keep their program at the University. Consisting of social media, traditional media and other grassroots efforts, the Save BU Wrestling campaigners fought until the very end and received tremendous widespread support.
